The Karz Club Annual Rod Run had a change in scenery this year due to the ongoing construction on Main Street. Eric Vielhauer and Cherish Thomson were just two of the organizers who helped adapt the event from Main Street to the VA and it became the largest event the VA has hosted in ten years. Vielhauer would love to have the VA host events as big as this one more often as he explains the transition.
The show kicked off with a tribute to the veterans, including one of the VA’s most respected patients, Dr. Sy Thickman, who recently turned 100 years old in early June. VA Associate Director, Scott Morey, had nothing but kind words to say about Dr. Thickman and the time they’ve spent together at the VA.
The Rod Run offers a wide variety of classic cars that range from numerous decades. President of the KARZ Club of Sheridan, Rex Randall, describes the different types of awards that can be earned at this event.
The Sheridan Media award went to a 1956 Ford Thunderbird, pictured above, which was presented by owners Gary and Jan Hargens. For more photographs, you can visit the VA’s Facebook page here.
