The time for talk is just about over and work is scheduled to start on the downtown Sheridan Main Street road work in less than one month, weather permitting.

On Tuesday night (March 7th), WYDOT and the city of Sheridan held a public meeting to go over final plans and timelines for various phases of the projects and answer questions.

WYDOT says the plan is to start with the Main and Dow Street intersection, and then start work on the area between Dow and Mandel Streets before the month of April is over.

The timeline is for construction crews to get as far south as Brundage Street by the end of October.

Any section of Main Street between Brundage and the Burkitt and Coffeen intersection won’t be worked on until next year.

Cort Headquist is the Project Manager of Ofdetal Construction from the Casper area, which is the company that will be doing the concrete work.

Although the city will be working on the water and sewer mains underneath the pavement, he says his crews still have to work around what’s currently there and who knows what else they’ll find.

“Mainly what you’re tying back into as far as tying services into existing buildings and stuff, sometimes it turns into a mystery. A lot of times there’ll be old existing utilities and stuff in the ground that are forgotten or unknown.”

WYDOT says weekly public meetings will be held each week beginning around April 12th to provide updates.

Work will also be done on the Main Street bridge over Little Goose Creek, but that work won’t start until late summer next year.
