Aaron PalmerA Conditional Use Permit for Randal and Stacie Huckeba was approved by the Sheridan County Commission on a split vote, but after concerns of the commission and some neighbors were discussed.
According to discussions, the Huckebas purchased the property a few years ago and have been running a siding fabrication business there, thinking it was allowed because another business was operated on that property before they purchased it.
It was discovered that it is zoned UR-Urban Residential which does not allow the operation of the business.
Neighbors to the property spoke against the CUP, citing ignorance of zoning does not justify operating the business nor justify the commission to issue a CUP after the fact.
Others spoke in favor of the CUP saying they either weren’t aware of the business or were not disturbed by it.
Commissioner Nick Siddle spoke about the issue, and his opinion in the matter.
The Planning & Zoning Commission voted to recommend approval of the CUP with some conditions.
The commission voted to approve reluctantly, with Commissioner Nick Siddle voting against.

Thank goodness we have commissioners like Siddle and Wright to always do the right thing, regardless of personal connections to the affluent. From rodeo’s to private property, these guys know best. Maybe in four years they will throw their hat in for Sheriff, then they could just arrest Randal instead of voting V.C.
