Honor those who serve by moving over and remaining aware

National Police Week runs from May 15, through May 21. This week offers communities an opportunity to honor law enforcement personnel who have given their lives in the line of duty and to show appreciation to those who currently serve and protect.

While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program, Sheridan Police Department Captain Tom Ringley told listeners that he feels the Sheridan community honors and appreciates the department and its officers and dispatch members everyday. If residents would like to help officers, troopers and deputies, the best thing they can do is keep their eyes open while operating their motor vehicles.

Ringely brought WSS 31-5-224 to the public’s attention, which is referred to as the ‘move over law’.

As a show of support and solidarity, residents and businesses who would like to display appreciation for law enforcement may also pick up a free blue light bulb at the police department.
