Pat BlairJim Manor took the oath of office Thursday afternoon at Sheridan’s City Hall to become the newest police officer on the force. Police Chief Rich Adriaens said Manor is an Army veteran, where he served as a medic.
Adriaens said it isn’t the intent of the citizens police academy to turn out police officers, but that really worked out well for Sheridan’s police department.
Manor said his and his wife’s families are all from Sheridan, and though he lived elsewhere for a time, he’s lived in Sheridan since 1988 and was a graduate of Sheridan High School. After three years in the military, he returned to Sheridan and owned a small business here before taking up police work. He explained how that came about.
Police Lt. Tom Ringley said the swearing in ceremony is an occasion to celebrate and welcome new people to the department’s team. He said whenever a new officer is sworn in, there’s a ceremony at City Hall.
