The Sheridan County Veterans Council and Kane Funeral Home are inviting the public to take part in Memorial Day weekend activities to honor those military members who have died.
The community can participate in any or all of the four upcoming events. Beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday May 25, the Stake & flag placement will be taking place at the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Volunteers are needed to ensure stakes and flags are placed at the gravestones of all veterans in the cemetery.
A Memorial Day Ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, May 27, at the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery at the Kane Funeral Home tent. This ceremony will include the American Legion’s 7th Cavalry Drum & Bugle Corps and the national anthem by Miss Wyoming, Sergeant Beck Bridger.
Kane Funeral Home will also host a FREE “Brunch & Lunch” beginning at 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the tent. Event details can be found on their Facebook page, here.
A Stake & Flag Removal will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 1. Volunteers are needed to ensure stakes and flags are removed appropriately.
The Sheridan County Veterans Council is made up of members from the VFW, VFW Auxiliary, American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, DAV, Department of Veterans Affairs, Scouts BSA Girl Scouts and Sheridan VA Health Care System.
