Ron RichterA 41-year-old man entered a plea on a drug delivery charge at an arraignment hearing Tuesday in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
Jedediah Franks pleaded guilty to the charge of delivery of a controlled substance – methamphetamine. On March 19, Franks delivered methamphetamine to an individual as part of a controlled buy arranged by law enforcement. The guilty plea was pursuant to a plea agreement reached with the State that recommends a sentence of 4 to 7 years in prison for the delivery charge. Franks is currently on probation for four felony drug possession convictions in Sheridan County last May and part of the plea deal with the State recommends that those sentences of 2 to 5 years and 3 to 5 years run concurrent to the 4 to 7 year sentence for delivering methamphetamine.
District Court Judge Darci Phillips ordered that a presentence investigation be completed by the Department of Corrections Division of Probation and Parole and said a date for sentencing will be set as soon as the petition to revoke Franks’ probation is filed by the State.

A 31-year-old Sheridan man changed his plea on two felony charges at a hearing Tuesday. Pursuant to a plea agreement reached with the State, Kyle Keleher pleaded no contest to the charges of aggravated assault and battery and strangulation of a household member. The charges stem from an incident on October 14, 2023 when Kelleher allegedly threatened another individual with a loaded firearm at a residence in Sheridan. In exchange for the no contest pleas, the State is recommending that two misdemeanor charges, interference with an emergency call, and domestic battery be dismissed.
The plea agreement recommends a sentence of 4 to 6 years in prison for each felony charge, suspended in favor of a nine month split-sentence followed by three years of supervised probation. The sentences would run concurrent to one another, while the State is recommending the probationary terms run consecutive to each other, which means Keleher would be placed on six years of supervised probation following his release from jail. District Court Judge Darci Phillips ordered that a presentence investigation be completed by Probation and Parole and scheduled sentencing for June 18 at 10:30 am. Keleher’s bond was revoked and he was remanded to the custody of the Sheridan County Detention Center pending sentencing.
