The Northern Wyoming Community College District Board and the Gillette Community College District Board met in Buffalo Saturday morning in the first of many meetings to transition Gillette College into its own district, separate from Sheridan College.

The two boards met to discuss and adopt a “Shared Values Statement,” which is a “road map” for how they will move forward in the transition.

Mark Gifford, Bar Counsel for the Wyoming State Bar, is the moderator for the meetings, and he explains the Shared Values Statement.

In a release from the NWCCD, GCCD Interim President Janell Oberlander said, “This was a great opportunity for everyone to begin to get to know each other. There is much work ahead, and I appreciate the commitment of time from all of these community leaders to come together and begin this important work.”

Also in the release, NWCCD President Dr. Walt Tribley said, “The work accomplished today represents the foundation for our path forward. This was an important milestone.”
