Promoting Our Women Warriors: The Hats We Wear

The VA Healthcare System is celebrating women warriors with a virtual event, Promoting Our Women Warriors: The Hats We Wear.

According to Cheyenne VA Healthcare System Registered Nurse with the Female Veterans Program Brandy Marshall, each year the Cheyenne and Sheridan VA Health Care Systems have been honored to hold an event for Women Warriors. 

This year, Eastern Colorado VA Health Care System located in Grand Junction is able to participate in the event. Previously this has been an in-person event, but according to Public Affairs & Congressional Liaison Officer Kristina Miller, concerns regarding COVID and restrictions prompted the planning committee to move forward with a virtual option. 

The event will be held on Aug. 28, and while many may find this virtual option less optimal, Miller and Marshall said the VA staff is excited about the potential to reach more Women Warriors who can find connection among attendees as well as learn more about the benefits and gender specific services offered to female veterans by the VA. While speaking with Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Marshall told listeners female veterans often do not realize those services are available to them.
