The Brinton Museum has reimagined its residency program connecting visiting artists with its Bighorn Rendezvous collections.

Artists selected for the residency program will be invited to return for the museum’s annual Bighorn Rendezvous exhibition, where their work will be featured and their talent, creativity and skill will be highlighted during special events.

Executive Director Kendra Heimbuck and Curatorial Director Jochen Wierich appeared on Sheridan Media’s Pulse to speak on the changes and unique opportunities offered to the public and the artists of the residency.

The program also features interactions with the public. Renowned Oglala Lakota artist Dwayne “Chuck” Wilcox was the first resident artist of the program this October, sharing his work and demonstrating drawing and paperwork during a free public presentation. Wilcox, known for ledger drawings exploring Native American life through humor, parody and a contemporary perspective, will return for Bighorn Rendezvous XII in 2027.
