Sheridan Man Changes Plea to Strangulation, Domestic Battery Charges

A Sheridan man changed his pleas on two charges at a hearing Thursday in Fourth Judicial District Court.

Pursuant to a plea agreement reached with the State, 57-year-old Sean Shea pleaded guilty to one count of felony strangulation of a household member and one count of misdemeanor domestic battery. The plea agreement with the State recommends a 3 to 5 year prison sentence for the felony strangulation charge and six months in jail for the misdemeanor domestic charge, concurrent to one another and suspended in favor of a six month split-sentence to be followed by three years of supervised probation.

District Court Judge Darci Phillips ordered that a presentence investigation report be completed by the Department of Corrections Division of Probation and Parole and scheduled sentencing for December 3 at 9 am. Shea’s bond was revoked and he was remanded to the custody of the Sheridan County Detention Center pending sentencing.
