Sheridan Man Changes Plea on Theft Charge in District Court

On March 6, 2026, the owner of the Sports Stop contacted the Sheridan Police Department about an employee who had allegedly been stealing from the business. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of 35-year-old Daniel Clark for stealing over $3,000 while he was the manager of Adventure Sports, which is part of the Sports Stop. The criminal activity occurred between January 18, 2025, and February 17, 2026.

Clark, pursuant to the terms of a plea agreement reached with the State, pleaded guilty to one count of felony theft at a hearing Tuesday in Fourth Judicial District Court. The plea deal recommends a 2 to 3 year prison sentence, suspended in favor of a 168-day split-sentence followed by three years of supervised probation. Clark must also pay the full restitution amount of $3,043 within two years.

District Court Judge Darci Phillips ordered that a presentence investigation report be completed by the Department of Corrections Division of Probation and Parole and scheduled sentencing for December 1 at 9 am. Clark’s bond was modified to an unsecured bond, securing his release from the Sheridan County Detention Center pending sentencing.
