Sheridan HS Volleyball: The Wyoming High School Volleyball season starts this weekend, and for the first time in a while, opponents are going to be more serious with Sheridan.

Last year was the first time in 8 years that the team qualified for the state tournament, and the Lady Broncs managed to win the 3rd place trophy.

Head Coach Danielle Sullivan says one of the first things that this year’s team has to do is what any other team has to do, and that’s to replace what was lost to graduation.

Sheridan will compete this Friday and Saturday at the Cheyenne Invitational.

Up first is a match against defending 4A State Champ Kelly Walsh.

Coach Sullivan says the Lady Broncs will go up against some opponents that will show where the team stands, early in the season.

Other opponents this weekend include Rock Springs and Star Valley on Friday, as well as Green River and Riverton on Saturday.

Tongue River HS Girls Golf: Tongue River and Big Horn will host a 1-day meet this Friday at Kendrick Golf Course.

Last year the TR girls placed 3rd at the 2A State Meet, and won the Sundance Invitational last week, beating last year’s state champs in the process.

Lady Eagle senior Savannah Tremain placed 4th individually last year, and has 2 first place finishes this year.

She says compared to last year, she’s working more on the little things in her style of play.

Not far behind Tremain is junior Talitha Winfrey who was 10th last year, and has placed 3rd twice so far this year.

She explains how her play has improved and what she needs to work on.

About 9 teams are scheduled to compete at this Friday’s event.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies won last night at Houston 6-1.

Hunter Goodman hit a 2-run home run for the cause.

Game 2 of the 3-game series is today starting at 6:10pm.

Denver Broncos Football: Cut day was yesterday as all NFL teams, including the Denver Broncos, had to trim their rosters to 53 players.

Denver ended up cutting more than 30 players.

Some of the notables included backup quarterback Sam Ehlinger, and running back Audric Estime both of whom scored touchdowns in the Broncos pre-season win at New Orleans this past Saturday.

Also released were wide receivers Michael Bandy and A.T. Perry, both of whom were on Denver’s practice squad last year.

Speaking of practice squads, teams can start signing players for those today.

The Broncos begin the regular season on Sunday, September 7th at home vs. Tennessee.
