Sheridan HS Girls Wrestling: This past weekend the Sheridan High School girls wrestling team won their 8-team home dual tournament.
In pool play, the Lady Broncs defeated Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, Newcastle and Natrona County.
In the championship match, the team would end up in a 42-all tie with Campbell County, however, Sheridan had the tie-breaker by way of having more pins 5-4.
Senior Eva Anderson says she enjoyed the competition and was going against opponents that she’s not used to going against.
Head Coach Marcie Lane says the tournament showed how much girls wrestling is developing in the Sheridan area.
The Lady Broncs return to action on Friday and Saturday, January 3rd and 4th at a tournament in Bozeman, Montana.
The boys will return to action the following weekend, January 10th and 11th at Douglas.
Mountain West Conference Football: Fresno State had their chances yesterday in the Potato Bowl in Boise, Idaho, but could not finish the job, and ended up losing against Northern Illinois 28-20 in 2 overtimes.
The Bulldogs were up 13-3 after 1 quarter and at halftime.
Northern Illinois would tie the score at 13 midway through the 3rd quarter.
In the 4th quarter, Fresno State would drive to the Northern Illinois 23 yard line, before turning the ball over on downs, and then missed a 35 yard field goal on the last play of regulation.
Both teams scored in the 1st overtime, and the Bulldogs couldn’t do anything in the second OT.
Today at 6pm, it’s the Hawaii Bowl, as San Jose State takes on South Florida.
Colorado State plays in the Arizona Bowl on Saturday against Miami of Ohio.
Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets won last night at home vs. Phoenix 117-90.
The 2 teams will rematch tomorrow, on Christmas Day, at Phoenix starting at 8:30pm.
