The Sheridan Hawks hockey team is off to a 3-1 start on the 2024-25 season.

This past weekend the team swept a home and home series vs. Gillette, a team they had not defeated since March of 2021, thus ending a 24-game skid against the Wild.

One impressive stat from the weekend was that Sheridan’s penalty killing unit only allowed 1 goal in 16 tries and so far for the season, the unit has allowed only 3 goals in 28 tries.

Head Coach J.J. Santagata says it’s good to find this kind of strength within the team early in the season.

“We’re finding ourselves in a lot of penalty kill situations, so we got a really good look at our penalty kill and basically almost clicking at almost above 95% is pretty solid. We’re seeing things that are working well like forward check. We’re figuring out what lines are doing well together, so a lot of things clicked well and I think defensively we’re doing really solid in the corners right now as well.”

This weekend the Hawks will play a 2-game series at Cody, which is a team that went 0-47 last season, and is already off to an 0-4 start this season.

The puck drops at 7:05pm on both Friday and Saturday.
