Sheridan/Big Horn HS Volleyball: For the first time in awhile, the Sheridan High School Volleyball team is off to a 2-0 start in the 4A East Conference.
This past weekend the Lady Broncs won at home vs. Cheyenne East 3-1 and Cheyenne Central 3-2.
Head Coach Dani Torpey says the girls did well on focusing on each game and opponent, and not focused on the fact that there was a monkey on their back.
The last time Sheridan qualified for the state tournament was back in 2016.
Meanwhile defending 2A State Champ Big Horn laid down the law this past weekend against 2A West opponents at the Big Horn Invitational.
The Lady Rams went a combined 8-0 against Pine Bluffs and 7 of the 8 teams in the west.
Head Coach Alli Nikont says the teams’ record may not have been all that great before this past weekend, but that was because the girls were mostly taking on 4A and 3A teams.
Games like those are sometimes just a learning experience, but sometimes BH has shown teams from bigger schools that they have learned a few things.
Both Big Horn and Sheridan will compete this weekend at the Casper Invitational.
On Friday, the Lady Broncs play Natrona, Laramie and Douglas, while the Lady Rams play Campbell County, Cheyenne Central and Evanston.
Saturday’s schedule and opponents are dependent on Friday’s results.
Sheridan HS Tennis: Sheridan will compete tomorrow and Thursday at the North Regional Meet at Natrona.
The competition was moved up from Friday and Saturday due to weather concerns.
The state meet is next weekend at Gillette.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies won last night at home vs. Arizona 3-2.
Ezequiel Tovar and Hunter Goodman each hit solo home runs and Brendan Rodgers would score the winning run in the bottom of the 9th off of a Diamondbacks’ error.
With 11 games remaining in the season, the Rocks need to win 2 of them to assure themselves of a better record than last year, and need to win 5 to avoid another 100-loss season.
Game 2 of the 3 game series vs. Arizona is today starting at 6:40pm.
