Once the nerves calmed down, the Lady Eagles took flight and grounded the Lady Grizzlies.
Tongue River outscored Rocky Mountain 14-1 in the 3rd quarter and held the opposition scoreless behind the 3-point line for the game (0-for-8), to win 37-26, in the first round of the Wyoming High School Activities Association 2A Girls Basketball State Tournament.
TR got a 3 to drop just ahead of the first quarter buzzer to go up 7-6, and lead 14-10 at halftime.
Paxten Aksamit led the Lady Eagles in scoring with 12 points, while McKinlee Scammon had a double-double (11 points, 13 rebounds).
Tongue River plays Pine Bluffs in the semi-finals on Friday, March 1st at the Ford Wyoming Center beginning at 4:30pm.
