News ReleaseGovernor Mark Gordon has appointed Sheryl Smith Bunting to be a Circuit Court Judge for the Fourth Judicial District serving Sheridan and Johnson Counties. Bunting’s appointment fills the vacancy left by the retirement of Circuit Court Judge Shelley A. Cundiff.
Bunting is currently an attorney in private practice with Tarver, Kerns & Bunting. She served as a Deputy County Attorney in the Sheridan County Attorney’s Office from 2008 until 2018 and since 2018 has served as the Municipal Court prosecutor for the City of Sheridan. A Wyoming native who grew up in Buffalo, Bunting earned her Bachelor’s and Juris Doctorate degrees from the University of Wyoming.
“Sheryl has demonstrated a thoughtful approach to the law that, along with her years of experience in the Fourth Judicial District, will serve her well as a Circuit Court judge, ” Governor Gordon
“I am honored to be appointed and appreciate Governor Gordon’s confidence in me. I look forward to serving the citizens of Sheridan and Johnson Counties and upholding the duties and responsibilities of the Circuit Court,” Bunting said.
The appointment is effective January 2, 2024.
