Amy Long was named the Director of the Sheridan County Public Library System on Aug. 9.
Long began as a volunteer with the Douglas County Libraries in Colorado where she has worked since 2004. Since 2021 she has been the Manager of Materials Handling, overseeing five supervisors and 70 materials handlers.
Long told listeners of Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse that hse and her husband had been searching for a way to be closer to his family and move to a smaller town. She spoke on how she discovered the open position in the Sheridan County Library System and told listeners that everything fell into place.
According to the Wyoming State library, Long has also been a community leader, serving as Conference Chair in 2014 for the Colorado Association of Libraries.
Still new to the position, Long said she’s learning the landscape and getting to know her team in the Library system.
