The Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office is reminding motorists that it is state statute to slow down and safely move over when coming upon or being overtaken by service and emergency vehicles.
While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, SCSO Undersheriff, Lieutenant Devereaux Johnson, spoke on Wyoming State Statute 31-5-224, Operation of vehicles upon approach of authorized emergency vehicles.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, motor vehicle-related incidents are a leading cause of line-of-duty deaths for law enforcement officers in the United States and a large majority are found to be preventable.
