For the third year, the Sheridan County YMCA and the Food Group have teamed up to hold summer Camp in the Park.
The YMCA and the Food Group teamed up two years ago, with some generous donations from Dairy Queen, to operate a pilot program exploring an interest and need in the community.
The Food Group provided nutritious meals and snacks while the YMCA organized and operated fun activities and games and Dairy Queen provided the summer treats no kids should miss out on to keep kids in Sheridan fed and active during the summer season at no cost to parents.
While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program, Sheridan County YMCA Executive Director Liz Cassiday told listeners the Camp in the Park program will continue this year, but may shift locations if the need arises.
Beginning June 7, the Y and the Food Group will arrive at the North Heights Park every Wednesday evening at 4:30 p.m. For an hour, kids will take part in games and camp style activities. All children are welcome completely free of charge. The park is located across the street from the intersection of North Heights Drive and North Heights Road.
