Winter Sports Numbers up at Sheridan High School / Cowboy Hoops Open MWC Play Tomorrow

SHS WINTER SPORTS – We continue our conversation with Sheridan high school Activities Director Don Julian today as the season starts back up Monday, numbers are expected to be at an all time high for the indoor track program added to loaded numbers in basketball, wrestling and boys swimming.

And Julian says the month a January has several great events especially for the Bronc wrestlers.

SHERIDAN COUNTY HS HOOPS – Both the Sheridan Boys and Girls Basketball teams are 3-0 on the season.

The teams are scheduled to play Thursday thru Saturday (January 6,7,8) in Cheyenne.

First up is Thursday games vs. Douglas, girls tip-off at 6:30pm with the boys game to follow.

The Douglas girls basketball team has their eye on history.

The Lady Bearcats are not only the 3-time defending 3A State Champs, but they have won 46 games in a row, which ties the state record for longest winning streak in Wyoming high School Girls Basketball History.

Lander set the original record from 1977-1979.

Elsewhere, the Big Horn, Tongue River and Arvada-Clearmont boys and girls basketball teams will play next Friday and Saturday (January 7, 8) in the Powder River Conference tournament, at Moorcroft and at Sundance.

The schedule for that is to be determined.

So far this season the Big Horn boys are 3-3, while the girls are 1-5.

The Tongue River boys are 5-2 and the girls are 3-4.

The Arvada-Clearmont boys are 0-3, while the girls are 1-2.

SHERIDAN HS WRESTLING – The Sheridan Wrestling team will compete Friday and Saturday (January 7,8) at the Shane Shatto Memorial Tournament in Douglas.

SHERIDAN HS BOYS SWIMMING/DIVING – The Sheridan Boys Swimming and Diving team will host the Sheridan Invitational on Friday and Saturday (January 7, 8)

INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD – Practice for Indoor Track and Field starts Monday, January 3rd.

The first meet is scheduled for Saturday, January 15th at Gillette.

COWGIRL HOOPS – The Wyoming Cowgirls play at UNLV today they open the new year Monday at home with Boise state.

COWBOY HOOPS – – The Wyoming basketball Cowboys open league play at home against Boise state you can hear the game live tomorrow on KWYO and 106.9 FM pregame starts at 1:30 with tip off at 2:00.

BRONCO FOOTBALL – – The Denver Broncos play the Chargers Sunday afternoon you can hear the game on KWYO and 106.9 FM pregame at noon kickoff is at 2:05.

SHERIDAN HAWKS HOCKEY – – The Hawks play at home on New Year’s Eve vs. Gillette starting at 7:30pm, and play at Gillette on New Year’s Day.
