One Tongue River Lady Eagle who likes to travel, except on the court, will hit the road and take her basketball skills to the other side of the Mississippi.

Paxton Aksamit has signed a written offer of athletic aid to compete at Lawrence University, which is a private liberal arts school in Appleton, Wisconsin, about 30 miles southwest of Green Bay.

This past season she averaged 10 points per game and shot 30% from behind the arc, which helped TR win their 2nd straight 2A state championship.

The 2-time all-state selection says it was her shooting that got the attention of the Lady Vikings Coaching staff, because that’s what the team needs.

“One of the things they wanted is they want some more shooters and so when the coaches talked to me, he’s like, your 3-point percentage, that’s my best, one of my best aspects is my 3-point shooting and that’s what the coach, one of the things they said they wanted is that they want more shooters. They have a lot of good posts and they have some pretty good shooters, but they want this upcoming class, they wanted some more shooters.”

Aksamit adds she plans to major in Psychology.

The Lady Vikings are an NCAA Division 3 team that competes in the Midwest Conference and went 18-8 this past season.
