Five Wyoming High School Seniors Awarded The Initial Homer “Scotty” Scott Outstanding Citizen Award

For the first time, the Wyoming High School Football Coaches Association partnered with the Homer & Janet Scott Family Foundation, as they honored five tremendous prep football players for their exemplary display of character, citizenship and strong positive involvement within their community.

These are just some of the qualities that longtime Sheridan, Wyoming resident, and Wyoming High School football proponent Homer “Scotty” Scott will be remembered for.

This award was created to honor and remember the life of a great advocate, fan and supporter of youth athletics in Wyoming.

A Wyoming business icon, “Scotty” was involved with numerous successful ventures including, 25 years as chairman of the board of 1st Interstate BancSystems, Perkins Restaurant and Bakery of Wyoming and the development of the Powder Horn Golf Community near Sheridan, plus many more businesses, employing hundreds, while forming positive relationships along the way.

Homer Scott passed away in October of 2023, but his long history of support for Wyoming youth activities, his love of Wyoming high school football and community will never be
forgotten.

Five Wyoming High School football players were honored at halftime during the 51st
annual Wyoming Shrine Bowl Football game, on Saturday, June 8th, 2024.

One player from each of the football classifications was selected by an interested committee from nominations submitted by Wyoming High School Football Coaches.

Each young man selected will receive a $500 scholarship and a $500 donation given to a charity or organization of their choosing, in their name.

Each player will also receive a handsome plaque with a photo of Homer “Scotty” Scott in his high school uniform when he was selected as a football All-America in 1952 from Sheridan High School.

Recipients include:

1A (6 Man): Wyatt Trembly, Dubois High School
1A (9 Man): Spencer Cuthrell, Moorcroft High School
2A: Keaton Mills, Upton-Sundance High School
3A: Ty Sheets, Riverton High School
4A: Caleb Ruff, Cheyenne East High School
