Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball team was back in action last night in a home double-header vs. Miles City, Montana.

In the first game, Sheridan won 4-1 as 4 Sheridan pitchers combined to allow 1 run and 1 hit.

In the second game, shortstop Cael Hamrick had 6 RBI’s, including a 3 RBI triple and a 2 RBI double, to help the Troopers win 13-7.

Coach Austin Cowen says it’s been 1 week since the team last played a game, and early on, it showed.

In between games, the Troopers, Miles City and Sheridan Media honored the life and career of sportscaster Trevor Jackson.

A replay of the ceremony will be available for viewing later today at sheridanmedia.com.

Today’s game at home vs. Buffalo has been canceled.

Sheridan will next play a conference double-header on Friday at Casper.

Sheridan College Rodeo/CNFR: The quest for a college championship has ended this year for one Sheridan College bull rider.

Wyatt Phelps went 0-for-3 on his rides at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, thus his run has ended and he will not be in the championship short-go.

The 2024 CNFR continues this week through Saturday.

University of Wyoming Men’s Basketball: Last week new University of Wyoming men’s basketball coach Sundance Wicks had his first speaking opportunity with the media.

He is a 1999 graduate of Campbell County High School and was an assistant coach at UW from 2020-2023.

This past season Wicks was the head coach at the University of Green Bay, where he was named the Horizon League Coach of the Year and the Joe B. Hall National Coach of the Year, which is presented to the top rookie first-year head college coach at an NCAA Division 1 program.

UGB went 18-14 this past season under Coach Wicks, and they were 3-29 the season before the team hired him.

He says his approach for the Cowboys is that the team needs to say who they’re going to be, and not say what they’re going to do.

Wicks adds he almost has the roster put together and says it has players that fit the UW basketball mold.

The University of Wyoming men’s basketball team had a record this past season of 15-16.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies won last night at Minnesota 5-4.

Ezequiel Tovar hit a 3-run home run in the 6th inning for the Rocks and Ryan McMahon added a solo shot in the 8th to help the cause.

The rubber game of the 3-game series is today starting at 11:10am.

Colorado is off tomorrow, and on Friday the team will start a 10-game homestand with 3 vs. Pittsburgh, 4 vs. the LA Dodgers and 3 vs. Washington.
