WebmasterSix Wyoming teachers, including one from Sheridan High School, have been named as 2019 Wyoming state finalists for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching(PAEMST). According to the Wyoming Department of Education, Isaac VanDyke teaches math at SHS and he was chosen through a rigorous peer review process. His application will now be forwarded to the National Science Foundation, where the final selection for the honor is to be made. Award recipients will be given a certificate signed by the President, a paid trip to Washington D.C. to attend a series of recognition events and professional development opportunities, and $10,000 from the NSF.
This designation was enacted by Congress in 1983 and authorizes the President to award 108 math and science teachers each year in recognition of their contribution to excellent teaching and learning. Nominations for the 2020 cycle are now open to anyone who wants to nominate an exceptional individual who teaches science technology, engineering, mathematics, or computer science in grades K-6. The deadline is May 1st. For more information or a nomination form, follow this link https://www.paemst.org/nomination/nominate.
