Big Horn Historical Society Program to Feature Blizzard of ’49

The next meeting of the Big Horn Historical Society will be on March 23, at the Big Horn Woman’s Club building. The program for March will be THE BLIZZARD OF ‘49 A Wyoming Public Television Documentary. Attendees will watch the documentary and then there will be a short intermission to clean up the kitchen then come back for the audience to share their blizzard stories.
Judy Slack, Big Horn Historical Society, added that the program might be a long one. “We have been grateful to capture some great stories from our audience. Thank you for your interest and patience.”

They will have a few photographs to share along with a short interview with Victor Garber that was recorded in 2014. There are so many stories are still being told about the Blizzard of 49!!
For those of you who cannot attend, please view the program to learn more about the blizzard. (go to Wyoming PBS website click on YouTube channel – search Blizzard of 49) You will be AMAZED.
Please bring photos if you have them (or share with Judy in advance so she can scan them to have for a slide show). They will also listen to a short talk by Vic Garber recorded in 2014. He was interviewed on KROE Public Pulse along with Bob Huff and Marge Halverson.
They might also talk about other blizzards – like the one in 1984. Victor Garber was helping out on his brother-in-law’s farm in Nebraska where he, Phyllis, Paul & David were stranded for 19 days.
The group usually meet the 4th Sunday of every month. There is a carry-in potluck lunch at 1, followed by the program at 2. Attendees are asked to bring a salad, dessert, rolls or a main dish. The group also appreciates everyone’s help in setting up and closing down.
