The annual Holiday Open House at Trail End State Historic Site was on December 6 was well attended by area residents, who listened to the live music, including a trio of ukulele players, Janet Ruleaux, Robin Belden and Merrilee Longhorn.

Ruleaux explained about the ukulele instrument.

Trail End volunteer Linda Chambliss talked about this year’s open house,

Father Christmas listened to Christmas wishes from both young and old, and handed out sleigh bells from the reindeer.

There was hot apple cider and figgy pudding, which was made from a traditional recipe and there were handouts with the recipe so those wishing to could make their own pudding, including the recipe for the lemon sauce as well.

Audree Helton, collections assistant at Trail End, was in the kitchen serving the cider and figgy pudding.

There is one more night of the open house, Sunday, December 8 from 4-7 p.m. and the Trail End Historic Site fee of $4 for adults applies. Children, accompanied by an adult, are free. Father Christmas will be on hand again, and Sunday night’s musical talent will include Belles of the Bighorns.
