The Clearmont Town Council, at their Monday, Feb. 19 meeting, heard a presentation from Eric Holifield of Engineering Associates about the planned work on the water lines in the town of Clearmont this spring.

He presented the town with a map of the section where the lines are being replaced and said that there would be very little interruption of the water service while the project was being done.

In other business the town discussed the town hall closure on Feb. 20-23, so Mayor Schock, Clerk Kirstie Auzqui could attend the WAM Conference.

There will be a Caucus meeting on March 18 at 7 p.m.

There was also a discussion about Clearmont Day, which will be on June 22. Mayor Schock talked about the upcoming event.

Schock added how the Iron Riders would be a part of Clearmont Day.

In her report, Clerk Auzqui talked about overdue utility bills and late fees, and what could be done when homeowners moved out and had overdue bills. The council took no action but agreed that there had to be updates in the ordinances to address the issues.

Mayor Schock added that although this wasn’t on the agenda,

In his report maintenance man Pete Bassett said the lights in the town hall were mostly replaced, a few need to be completed. He also plans to attend the spring training conference in Casper by the Wyoming Association of Rural Water Systems in April.

In new business the council discussed the bid from Tree Mechanics on the removal of the willow tree near the town hall, and the cottonwood tree in the park that need to be removed. Due to the cost of the removal council decided to table the issue until the upcoming budget year.

There was also a quote for maintenance on the lawns that the town maintains, two parks and the bank between the highway and the railroad, and Bassett said he had the fertilizer and would take care of the lawns this year.

The next meeting will be on March 18 at 6 p.m., with the Caucus meeting to follow at 7.
