Wyoming Job And Payroll Numbers Increase From 4th Quarter 2021, To 4th Quarter 2022

The number of jobs and the total payroll has been going up in Wyoming, and the amount of employment is almost back to where it was before the COVID pandemic started.

According to new numbers from the Research and Planning Division of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, from 4th quarter of 2021, to 4th quarter of 2022, Wyoming added almost 5,300 jobs (2.0% increase), and total payroll was up $58.8 million (up 1.5%).

The biggest job increases were in mining which was up 9.4% as well as manufacturing (up 5.1%), professional and business services (up 3.6%) and leisure and hospitality (up 2.3%).

The biggest drops were in state government and construction which were down 0.9% and 0.7% respectively.

The Cowboy State is still down 3,600 jobs in the 4th quarter of 2022, compared to 4th quarter of 2019.

In Northeast Wyoming, Crook and Campbell Counties had some of the biggest increases from 4th quarter 2021, to 4th quarter 2022, in both average monthly employment and total wages.

Sheridan County was up 1.5% in employment and 1.2% in wages, while Johnson County was up 2.2% and 4.1% in those same categories.

Big Horn County had the biggest one year drop with employment numbers down 2.9%, while Teton County had the biggest wage drop down 14.5%.
