Chris LeDoux Statue Dedication To Take Place At Cheyenne Frontier Days

A Kaycee Cowboy will be honored at the Daddy of ‘Em All for his good rides and his good tunes.

Not only did Chris Ledoux rock n rolled it on stage in a country music way, he also did it in the rodeo arena.

On Friday (July 23rd), a statue of Chris will be dedicated in his honor at Cheyenne Frontier Days.

Later that night, his son Ned Ledoux, and his close friend Garth Brooks will perform in a concert.

Chris’ wife, Peggy says the friendship between Chris and Garth was so good, that Garth mentioned Chris in his Top 10 Country hit, “Much Too Young To Feel This Damn Old.”

She adds she and Chris had no idea that was coming, and it surprised them when they first heard it on the radio.

“Chris and I were actually heading to Casper, Wyoming just to go and grocery shop, and that song came on, and we looked at each other and yeah it was like ‘what?’ you know that was the first time we had ever heard the song and like ‘wow that’s just crazy amazing’ you know?”

Musically, Chris Ledoux ended up with two gold and one platinum recordings. 

Rodeo-wise, he won the Bareback Riding world championship back in 1976.

Peggy says Chris never won CFD, and although she couldn’t remember the year, there was one year when Chris missed winning the Daddy of ‘Em All by one point.

Chris LeDoux died of cancer in 2005.
