The Fulmer Public Library in Sheridan is preparing for a planned Nov. 16 reopening as renovations continue.

While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Pulse, Public Library System Director Amy Long said most carpeting is installed, painting is nearing completion and lighting is 98% finished. Staff are assembling shelving and expect to begin moving books back into place next week.

Long said most of the initial planning and fundraising groundwork was done by former Director Cameron Duff, but due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the plans to renovate the libraries had to be put on hold. The task of finding the remaining grant funds and executing the work has been a long process for Long, her libraries’ staff and the public.

As the renovations enter the final stages, Long said she is proud of the hard work her team has put into the refresh and she appreciates the patience of the public.

According to Long, most of the remaining furniture should arrive by December, although some specialty shelving and furniture will arrive after the new year. Older shelving will be used temporarily so the library can reopen while awaiting deliveries.
