During the Buffalo City Council’s last meeting, Vice-Chair Myra Camino made two suggestions for the council to consider.

The first was to fund a request from Sheridan College in Johnson County (SCJC) for funds from the city to help build a scholarship program for Johnson County students to use at either campus of Sheridan College.

The council voted to approve $10,000 from the One-Percent Fund for the scholarship on a split vote, with Councilman Mike Madden Voting against.

Camino also asked the council for funds for this summer’s semiquincentennial celebration.

The council voted to approve the request for $6,500 for advertising for the celebration, which will be taken from the Mayor’s Contingency Fund.
