Sheridan College Rodeo: The Sheridan College Men’s Rodeo team recently strengthened its case to be a part of this year’s College National Finals Rodeo, while the women are trying to make a late season charge up the standings.
At this past weekend’s competition hosted by Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington, the men placed 2nd and the women were 3rd in the team standings.
Individually, Lonnie Dunn, Christopher Nelson and Jake Schlattman finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively in the saddle bronc competition.
In the Central Rocky Mountain Region standings, Schlattman is in 1st place, Nelson is 3rd and Dunn is on the outside looking in at 4th place.
The top 3 in each event at the end of April qualify for the CNFR.
For the ladies, Ryen Mae Sheppick won the breakaway roping at EWC.
There are 3 rodeos to go in the season, and the next one is scheduled for this coming weekend at Colorado State.
Sheridan HS Soccer: The Sheridan boys are off to a 3-0 start on the season, and are 2-0 in the 4A East.
The Broncs are not yet at 100%, because some players were either wrestling this past weekend, or are still recovering from basketball.
Coach Wade Kinsey says the reserves have stepped up nicely, and the experience will pay off down the road.
Meanwhile the Sheridan girls are off to a 2-0-1 start on the season.
The tie was on Saturday at Laramie and it ended up being a game where both sides led and trailed at some point.
Lady Broncs Head Coach Josh Dube says the team has been learning and has matured quickly after only 3 games.
The Sheridan girls are scheduled to play today at Campbell County.
Both the Broncs and Lady Broncs are scheduled to visit Worland on Thursday.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies got their first win of the season last night in Toronto, against the defending American League Champs 14-5.
Troy Johnston and Braxton Fulford each hit solo home runs.
Game 2 of the 3 game series is scheduled for today, starting at 5:07pm.
Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche won by a landslide last night at home vs. Calgary 9-2.
The Avs are next scheduled to play tomorrow at home vs. Vancouver.
