Volunteer Meet-Up Held at Museum at the Bighorns
The Museum at the Bighorns is accepting volunteers for the summer season. Carrie Edinger, Museum Director held a Volunteer Meet-up on Saturday, February 14 at the museum.
She talked about what is being planned for the museum, saying that they would have a rotating exhibit space which will be changed every six months. She added that with growth and a small staff, comes volunteer opportunities at the museum. One volunteer opportunity is in the schools, Edinger said.
She added that some of the material doesn’t match today’s curriculum in the schools. She said she is finding out more of what the school needs, like field trips. She felt that during April, May and June might be a good time for volunteers to talk to the school children about our history, and she also has scavenger hunts for the kids.

Other volunteers are needed for downtown walking tours, and helping to set up some upcoming exhibits.
She talked about the upcoming Smithsonian Exhibit, Voices and Votes, Democracy in American, which will be on display April 18- June 13. This exhibit comes with programs, and she has speakers scheduled.
Another exhibit upcoming will be honoring the Native Americans.

One tour she will need volunteers for is a walking tour focusing on the old buildings of Sheridan, and history of Sheridan’s transportation, talking about the trolley that ran through town, out to the coal towns and to the VA.
