Margaret Ann Aksamit was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Margaret passed away peacefully with her family by her side after a short illness on December 20, 2023, at the age of 76.

Margaret was born to Kenneth and Mary Jaap in Trinidad, Colorado on April 18, 1947. In 1967 she met Gene Aksamit and 2 years later they were married in Denver, CO. They moved shortly after to Japan, where Gene was stationed in the Air Force. Before leaving Japan their first son Chad was born, and they welcomed Stephanie, Melanie, and Scott in the years following. Gene and Margaret made their home in Arvada, Colorado, and then later in Erie, Colorado. When they retired in 2016, they moved to Dayton, Wyoming to be with family and watch their grandchildren grow.

Margaret enjoyed the mountains, spending time near the ocean, and most of all, being with her grandchildren Cody, Holly, Mackenzie, and Tavis.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Mary Jaap, and her sister Maureen McClanahan. She is survived by her husband Gene Aksamit, son Chad (Beth) Aksamit, daughter Stephanie (Tom) Williams, daughter Melanie Aksamit, son Scott Aksamit, and grandchildren Cody, Holly,
Mackenzie, and Tavis.

She will be remembered for her kind heart, snappy wit, stubborn disposition, and never-ending home-cooked meals for everyone who walked into her home.

Rosary and Services will be held Thursday, December 28th at 10:00 am at Kane Funeral Home, with a celebration of Margaret’s life to be held later this spring.
Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with local arrangements. Online condolences may be written at www.kanefuneral.com.
