Alex Haswell Of Sheridan HS Signs NLI For UW Football: A Sheridan Bronc football player and this year’s 4A lineman of the year has announced he will play for the brown and gold.

Alex Haswell has signed his National Letter of Intent (NLI) to play football at the University of Wyoming.

This past season Haswell had 34 tackles (18 of them solo), 7 tackles for losses including 1 sack, forced 1 fumble and blocked 1 punt.

He says he’s always had his eye on the Cowboys and the call came as he was getting ready for the biggest and final game of his high school career.

Haswell adds he’s been playing since his flag football days, and explains what he thinks UW saw in him.

Haswell says he was already committing to UW before Coach Craig Bohl’s retirement announcement and he isn’t changing his mind.

He adds he is considering majoring in either construction management or business.

Also signing his football letter of intent was Dan Steele for Montana State.


College Football Early Signing Period: Yesterday was the first of 3 days in the NCAA football early signing period.

The Wyoming Cowboy football program announced 26 athletes signed their letters of intent yesterday and will wear the brown and gold.

Of those 26, 17 of them were high school scholarship players, 1 transfer student athlete and 8 high school preferred walk-ons.

The breakdown of those 26 have 13 on defense, 11 on offense, 1 on special teams and 1 categorized as an athlete.

Including Haswell, 4 Wyoming high School players signed with UW.

The other 3 were Defensive back Drew Jackson from Cheyenne East, Offensive lineman Tegen Seeds from Douglas and Placekicker Keelan Anderson of Cheyenne South

The current Wyoming Cowboy football team is preparing to play Toledo in the Arizona Bowl, which is one week from this Saturday.


University of Wyoming Basketball: The Wyoming Cowboys won 78-65 yesterday against South Dakota State at the Sun Bowl Tourney in El Paso, Texas.

Akuel Kot led the way with 22 points and Mason Walters added in 12.

The Cowboys shot 51% for the game and 50% from 3-point land.

The Pokes play again today against the host team UTEP at 7:30pm.

Meanwhile the Wyoming Cowgirls play today in Las Vegas against Wright State.

Tip off is scheduled for 3:30pm and you can hear that game on Smart-talk 106.3 FM.


Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets won the 1st of the 3-game Eastern Conference road trip last night at Toronto 113-104.

Their next game is tomorrow night at Brooklyn.
