Arvada-Clearmont High School Basketball: There’s a little bit of high school basketball action involving one Sheridan County team this week.
Last night Arvada-Clearmont dropped both ends of a double-header on the road against one of the Campbell County JV teams.
The girls lost 47-34, and the boys lost 64-25.
Both the Panthers and Lady Panthers will play in Sheridan tomorrow against the Bronc and Lady Bronc freshmen teams.
Sheridan HS Wrestling: The Sheridan boys won a dual meet last night at Cody 54-21, winning 5 matches by pin and 3 others by forfeit.
The Broncs have the rest of this week and all of next week off in terms of competition.
The boys will be back on the mat on January 5th and 6th at Douglas, while the girls will compete at Bozeman.
College Football Early Signing Period: Today, tomorrow and Friday is the early signing period for those who wish to make their college commitment official.
New University of Wyoming football coach Jay Sawvel says when the word got out that he was going to take over the coaching duties he reached to all of those who have verbally committed so far.
Sometimes when a team has a head coaching change, a number of recruits might decommit, but Sawvel says so far that has not happened.
Since he was the defensive coordinator this year, he got to meet and get to know defensive recruits.
Now that he’s the head man, he’s got to get acquainted with those on the other side of the ball.
UW plays in the Arizona Bowl, one week from this Saturday.
It will be the final game for Craig Bohl as head coach.
University of Wyoming Basketball: The Wyoming Cowboys are in action today at the Sun Bowl Invitational in El Paso, Texas.
The Pokes play South Dakota State at 5pm.

Tomorrow’s game time and opponent will be dependent on today’s results.
UW is currently 1st in the nation in made 3-point field goal percentage at 42.86%.
Meanwhile, the Wyoming Cowgirls, play tomorrow in Las Vegas against Wright State at 3:30pm.
Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche lost last night at Chicago 3-2.
The Avs’ next game is tomorrow at home vs. Ottawa.
Sheridan Hawks Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks made it 3-for-3 at the NA3HL’s showcase event in Minnesota.
Yesterday morning, the Hawks defeated the Danbury Junior Hat Tricks out of Connecticut, by a score of 4-to-2, scoring all 4 goals in the 1st period.
The team is on their way back home and have the rest of this week and all of next week off from competition.
They are back in action on Friday and Saturday January 5th and 6th at Cody, and are back home on January 12th and 13th vs. Rapid City.
