Sheridan County High School Basketball: The Tongue River High School Eagles and Lady Eagles had some big basketball games last night vs. Wyoming Indian and the games lived up to the hype.
In the boys contest, TR had a 15 point lead with about 2:30 to go before halftime.
The visitors would rally and take a 54-52 lead with 4:26 remaining in the game, but the Eagles would score the last 8 points to win 60-54.
Tongue River Head Coach Tyler Hanson says it may still be early in the season, but that was a type of game that his team needed.
In the girls game, TR had a 10 point lead early in the 3rd quarter, and Wyoming Indian would cut the deficit to 2, but the Lady Eagles held on and pulled away at the end.
Final score 49-41.
Tongue River Head Coach Amanda Cummins says after things did not go too well shooting wise last weekend, the Lady Eagles got a good bounce back win against a historically tough opponent.
The Tongue River boys and girls play 2 home games today.
At 3 and 4:30pm they’ll play Greybull and then at 6 and 7:30pm they’ll play Big Piney.
Tomorrow at 11am and 12:30pm TR will play at home vs. Wind River.
Meanwhile Big Horn split their basketball games last night vs. the Sheridan JV team.
The boys lost 58-55, while the girls won 26-14.
BH also plays 2 home today.
First up at 12-noon and 1:30pm they’ll play Wind River, and then at 6 and 7:30pm they’ll play Wyoming Indian.
Tomorrow at 11am and 12:30pm, Big Horn will play at home vs. Big Piney.
Elsewhere in Sheridan County, the Sheridan Broncs and Lady broncs play today and tomorrow.
Today the boys play at Buffalo beginning at 7pm.
The girls play home against Buffalo at the same time.

Sheridan And Tongue River Wrestling: Sheridan is competing today and tomorrow at Gillette, while Tongue River will compete tomorrow at Wright.
Sheridan HS Boys Swimming: The Sheridan boys swim team swims today and tomorrow at Kelly Walsh.

University of Wyoming Basketball: The Wyoming Cowboys are back in action tomorrow night at home vs. Weber State.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm.
The Wyoming Cowgirls play Sunday at 12-noon at Montana State.

Mountain West Conference Football News: The bowl season starts tomorrow and 2 Mountain West teams will be in action.
Fresno State and New Mexico State meet in the New Mexico Bowl starting at 3:45pm.
Overlapping that game will be Boise State against UCLA in the LA Bowl starting at 5:30pm.
The Wyoming Cowboys play in the Arizona Bowl vs. Toledo, 2 weeks from tomorrow.
In other Mountain West Conference football news, all teams now know which conference opponents they will play next year and where.
The Cowboys will have home games vs. Air Force, Boise State, San Diego State and Utah State.
The road trips will be Colorado State, New Mexico, San Jose State and Washington State.
What is not known are the dates of the games and what order they’ll be played in.
Next year all Mountain West Conference teams will play 7 conference games vs. each other, and then they’ll also play either Washington State or Oregon State as part of a 1-year agreement the 2 schools have with the conference, since the PAC-12 will no longer exist after this season.
Denver Broncos Football: The Denver Broncos play tomorrow night at Detroit.
Kickoff is scheduled for 6:15pm.

Including tomorrow, the Broncos have 4 games remaining on their regular season schedule and are currently 1 game behind Kansas City for 1st place in the AFC West.
Denver is also in a 6-way tie with Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, Houston, Cincinnati and Buffalo for the final 2 wild card spots in the AFC.
Sheridan Hawks Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks will play at the NA3HL’s Showcase event in Blaine, Minnesota, which is just north of Minneapolis.
The Hawks will play Sunday against a team from Euless, Texas beginning at 7:15pm
On Monday, they play the St. Louis Junior Blues starting at 5:15pm and then conclude the event Tuesday vs. a team out of Danbury, Connecticut at 8:30am.
The next home games for the Hawks aren’t until January 12th and 13th.
Elks Hoop At Sheridan Junior High School: The Elks Hoop Shoot will be held this coming Sunday at Sheridan Junior High School.
PE Teachers at Sheridan area schools and in Buffalo have been holding contests at their schools to determine school champions.
It is these school champions who will compete at the Hoop Shoot.
Any kids who did not get to shoot at school may come on Sunday.
The age groups and their start times are: 8-9 at 1:30; 10-11 at 2:30; and 12-13 at 3:30. Age is determined by how old they are on April 1, 2024.
