The Big Horn and Tongue River football teams play their lone non-conference game against the 2A West tonight.
The Rams will travel to other side of the mountain for a state championship rematch against Lovell.
Coach Kirk McLaughlin says he liked how physical the team was last week against Natrona’s JV team, plus the players did well at executing the game plan.
As far as Lovell goes, he adds he knows the Bulldogs have had this game on their minds for some time, and explains the style of play the team is known for.
“Just a downhill run team, really good at just running the ball between the tackles and can surprise you with the occasional flex pass and outside run games. They going to have a few chips on their shoulder and want to get payback from last year, I’m sure they’ve talked a lot about it, but we got to bring our own ‘A’ game.”
Meanwhile, Tongue River will play at home against Thermopolis.
Coach Steve Hanson says this is one of those games where the Eagles need to worry about themselves more than their opponent.
TR didn’t open the playbook much last week against the Sheridan JV team and since the Bobcats are not a conference game, don’t expect any major changes in the plan this week.
“We’re not really going to open the playbook to any great extent for another week. Non-conference game. We’re going to stay true to what we really need to execute, what we call our bread and butter stuff and the week after then we’ll start to actually show what we got ready.”
Games for both the Eagles and Rams are scheduled to kickoff at 6pm.
