Jacqueline Ann Lee
Jacqueline Ann Lee was born in Sheridan on November 24, 1943, and went home on August23, 2025. She was one of four children born to Robert and Evelyn (Miller) Lee. She was raised on her family’s ranch below Tongue River reservoir. Jackie talked about looking forward to a new pair of shoes when school started every year, riding in a wagon pulled by a team of horses, having an icehouse for the ice box filled with big blocks of ice from Tongue River, no running water or electricity. Jackie also talked about her Norwegian heritage. Her grandparents immigrated and were homesteaders where Tongue River Reservoir is now located in Montana.
Jackie fell in love with Lee Powell, and they were married on December 3rd, 1960. Jacqueline worked most of her career as a CNA, working for the VA for 30 years and then for Sugarland Ridge. She also worked in the kitchen at Sheridan High School and for a short time in Albertsons Bakery. She loved cooking for the students and seeing her grandson every day. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, gardening and most of all fishing. Jackie could always out fish Lee. She would catch a trout, and he would pull in a rock. After Lee passed, Jackie never remarried. She loved all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and just recently became a great, great-grandmother. Her last night on this earth, she went to sleep talking about holding her grandbabies.
Jacqueline was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lee and son-in-law Gerald England. Jackie was survived by her sister Belle Thompson, sister Bobbie Elliott and brother Gene (Gorgeann) Lee, three daughters, Susan England, Marcy (Ron) Lyons and Penny (Cody) Britton. She had 7 grandchildren- Cody (Kirsten) Britton, Travis (Sandy) Bouldin, Jimmy Lee Pierce, Leanna Bass, David Britton, Casey Chasing Hawk and Vincent England. Jackie had 12 great grandkids and one brand-new great, great-granddaughter (“June bug”), multiple nieces and nephews.
