JR Chase
Harold C Chase, Jr of Sheridan passed away on June 1, 2025, after a short battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis resulting in respiratory failure. He was 69 years old. Known as “JR” to his family and friends, he was born on April 25, 1956, to Willo and Harold C. Chase, Sr. in Bowman, S.D.. Junior was the fifth of 8 children.
He began his career as a Heavy Equipment Operator in 1977 while working for The Husman Brothers of Sheridan. He met and married AlReta Alexander in 1981 and soon afterward welcomed their son, Chad. Junior joined the Decker Coal Company in 1989 and worked for them for 17 years, operating a Dozer on the Dragline.
He met the love of his life, Carol Stanbridge, in August 1997. The couple later married in May 2003. After leaving The Decker Coal Company, Junior accepted a position with Ruby Construction. His son, Chad, followed a short time later. In 2017 both Junior and Chad purchased heavy equipment from Ruby Construction to begin their own company known as Chase Construction, LLC.
He worked with his son until the time of his death. His greatest joy stemmed from the time he spent with Chad on various construction projects. Junior was an avid fisherman, golfer and in his younger days, a basketball player (noon ball at the Y). He thoroughly enjoyed 4-wheeling and camping in the Big Horn Mountains with his wife and relatives.
Junior loved life and lived it to the fullest. If you knew him, you couldn’t help but love him. He is survived by his wife Carol, son Chad (Ashley), brothers Eugene (Fran) and Allan (Angie). Numerous nieces and nephews and his two brothers-in-law, Bill Stanbridge(Donna) and Harry Stanbridge (Marsha). Two sisters-in-law, Frances Kelley and Margaret Thrams(Dennis), his (Girls) Bella and Chelsea.
