Diane Yarrington Pruett, age 75, passed away in San Antonio, Texas on August 3, 2024. She was born to John and Jessie Yarrington on November 27, 1948, in San Marcos, Texas. In July 1949, her parents and two older siblings, Ron and Richard, moved to Sheridan, Wyoming, where she grew up and lived until 1972.
By then, she was a single parent to sons, Richard and Scott, and returned to San Marcos to join her brother, Richard, in caring for their recently widowed grandmother, Virginia Yarrington. When Virginia moved into a care facility two years later, her services were no longer needed, and she returned to Sheridan for the next 12 years. She made her final move to San Antonio in 1986, and in 1989, she adopted a baby daughter, Jessica, to add to her family of three.
Things she most enjoyed in life – fishing trips with family growing up; discussing movies with brother, Richard; using her eye for interior design to create a lovely home; helping her daughter start a successful beadwork business that received TV coverage; reading crime novels; traveling with Richard to Denver and Tucson to visit other brother, Ron, and his family; taking her entire family to Disney World; and traveling to New York, Chicago and many other places with daughter, Jessica, with whom she had an especially close relationship.
After high school, Diane eagerly entered the work force to provide for her family. Her many jobs included working in banks in both Sheridan and San Antonio, serving as a Southwest Airlines reservationist for many years, and as a retail sales person in several dress and gift shops.
Diane is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ron. She is survived by her sons, Richard and Scott (wife Rachel), and daughter, Jessica, grandchildren (Blaise, Stella, and Adleigh), brother Richard, and numerous nieces and nephews. With her warm and caring personality, Diane will be fondly remembered by her family, extended family, and many friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 11:00 am at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 N Loop 1604 E. San Antonio, TX 78232, with gathering of family & friends starting at 10:00 am.
