Johnson County Healthcare Center CEO Luke Senden discussed the recent designation of the facility as a Critical Access Hospital with the hospital board during their last meeting.

Senden said the JCHC is the only hospital in the state to receive the designation for 2022.

Senden also reported that the lab had a recent survey with one minor finding which was with humidity and they have made a temporary fix with a humidifier while they look for a long-term solution.

He said he is following some legislation in Cheyenne, with the main one being the financing piece for construction at healthcare facilities in the state, from federal funding passed through to the state for distribution.

Senden said that Black Hills Orthopedic & Spine Center had begun seeing patients at the JCHC within the last couple of weeks, and will be performing surgeries in the near future, providing another service to the community.
