Auzqui Named New JCSD1 Superintendent

After interviews and public forums with three candidates for the position, the Johnson County School Board held a special meeting Thursday night to announce the selection of Charles Auzqui as the new district superintendent.

Auzqui, who is currently the Superintendent and K-12 Principal for Sheridan County School District #3 in Arvada/Clearmont, was chosen over other qualified candidates from Green River and Dickinson North Dakota.

Auzqui, during his public forum last week, spoke about growing up and attending schools in the Buffalo area and his experience during his years as an educator in Wright and in Clearmont, and that he viewed the position with JCSD1 as a “destination position,” not as a “stepping stone to somewhere else.”

Current JCSD1 Superintendent Jim Wagner will finish the current school year with the district before moving on to his next position, and Auzqui will take over Johnson County’s school district this summer.
