Celebrate World Habitat Day with Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Bighorns

World Habitat Day is Oct.5, and Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Bighorns is using World Habitat Day through a virtual Build-a-thon to celebrate Habitat’s long standing partnership with Thrivent Financial.

During World Habitat Day, Habitat for Humanity draws attention to the important role decent housing plays in eliminating barriers to a better, healthier, more financially stable life. 

Here in Sheridan they are doing this by hosting an all day build-a-thon. Throughout the day, residents will hear from a local Habitat partner family, and learn various facts about Habitat for Humanity and the need for affordable housing as we build dollar by dollar. Every dollar donated is matched by Thrivent Financial. 

Habitat for Humanity and Thrivent Faith Builds bring local churches together to raise roofs, walls and funds to build a house in partnership with a family in Sheridan County.

Habitat’s goal is to raise $5,000 throughout the day to directly benefit the Faith Build partner family, the Roques. Support from Sheridan County residents in raising $5,000 means that after the match, efforts will have helped raise $10,000 for the Roque family.

During an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Bighorns, Christine Dieterich explained how Habitat for the Eastern Bighorns is reaching out to the public during today’s event.

Ways to support for the Faith Build and overall mission to build affordable housing in Sheridan County can be done by: 

1.Make a contribution as an individual.

2. Dedicate a portion of your missions funds to the Faith Build. 

3.Share the good news with your congregation and thank them for being a part of the Faith Build this year.

4.“Like” the Habitat for Humanity Facebook page for fun updates surrounding the build and to hear from our Habitat homeowners and supporters during the Build-A-Thon.

5.Create a two person team for our corn hole tournament October 9th at Sheridan Wesleyan Church.
