On Monday, June 16, the Clearmont Historical Group held their Clearmont meeting at Robert Prusak Ranch near Ulm. A carry-in lunch preceded the meeting.

Prusak reported that Clearmont Historical Center received a Flagship Grant through the 2025 AARP Community Challenge grant program.

Chairman Robert Prusak gave the board an update about the storage building that Jimmy Baumgartner donated to the group. He will visit with Tri-County about locating the gas line and moving the tank parallel to the alley fence. The tank has to be ten feet from a building. This will allow the needed space for the shed.

The donated shed will require a foundation, new door, Tyvek plastic wrap and siding. Prusak will be leveling the ground and placing railroad ties for the shed’s foundation.

Member Leland Sanders will be signing and selling his book, “A History of Irrigation in the Lower Clear Creek Valley”, in the Branding Iron Park during Clearmont day. Prusak gave an update.

Member Meshelle Cooper, suggested that the group should promote the book.

The Center will also be open that day for book sales and visitation.

Prusak thanked Sandy Hirz and Fran Felz for their work on the Center’s exhibits and collections.

There is an ice-cream social planned later in the summer, and a Community Thank You will be arranged honoring Cynthia Vannoy and Ira Roadifer among others who have helped the Center in its success. This event may coincide with History Happy Hour with the Sheridan Museum at the Bighorns. Date and time to be determined.

Member Rhonda Michelena updated the group on geocaching. She will set up sites in the park during the Ice Cream Social and wants to do the same in areas of Arvada, Spotted Horse, Leiter, Clearmont, etc. Participants must have a smartphone and use their phone’s GPS navigation/app to drive to the sites. She also would like to use a Backward Glance to place a “coin” for geocaching

Dave Nicolarsen, Curator of the Natural History Museum of Wyoming, located at Sheridan College, attended the meeting, and he has installed his summer exhibit of marine fossils, agates and more at the Clearmont Historical Center Museum.

The next meeting will be at the Sheridan Fulmer Public Library on July 21, 2025
