Lecture on Nate Champion Book Coming Friday in Buffalo

A lecture on Nate Champion and the Johnson County Cattle War will be presented by Author and Western Historian Mark Warren, who wrote “Nate Champion and the Johnson County Cattle War, 1892.”
Warren will be speaking during a stop at the Johnson County Library on Friday, September 20.
According to a flier from the Johnson County Historical Society, Warren’s years of research reveal why some Western scholars consider Nate Champion to be an unsung hero in American history.
The lecture will look into one of America’s most egregious acts of insurrection and how Champion unknowingly prevented the crime of the century and became a martyr to the common laborer.
Warren will also delve into how the government’s free-range policy inspired chaos and lawlessness among ranchers of the West.
The lecture will be presented this Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the Twing Room at the Johnson County Library.
