A Nevada man is dead after being involved in a one-vehicle rollover on an icy freeway north of Kaycee during the Easter holiday.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol says in its preliminary report, sometime after 11pm this past Sunday (March 31st), 52-year old Brian Cota, was a passenger in a vehicle heading north on I-25, where the freeway crosses over Wyoming State Highway 196, about 7 miles north of Kaycee.
It was snowing at the time the vehicle crossed an icy bridge and went into the median.
The unnamed driver of the vehicle then steered hard to the right, in an attempt to get the vehicle back onto the interstate.
The vehicle would rotate clockwise and went into a broadside driver-side leading slide, tripped and rolled about 2 ½ times.
Cota was not wearing his seatbelt and died from his injuries.
The driver was not injured.
Speed and/or driving too fast for road conditions are being investigated as contributing factors in the crash.
