The new batch of residents at Jentel is inviting the community to join them for March’s Jentel Presents.
According to Jentel, these artists come from all over the country and beyond to take in all Wyoming has to offer, from the beautiful landscape to our bustling art community. Jentel Presents is an opportunity for these artists to share their visual artworks and writings with all who wish to join.
This community outreach program, featuring visual presentations and readings by the residents at the Jentel Artist Residency Program, will take place from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 26, at the Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library Inner Circle in Sheridan. Attendees are invited to bring their lunch and enjoy this presentation.
This month’s presenters include Ben Bridgers, from Durham, NC. A painter. An aged skateboarder who paints. Bridgers roots around in images through a classical approach to oils – exploring the magic, mystery, and perversity of the natural world.
Beth Krebs, Oakland, CA. A videographer and sculptor. Krebs’ recent work riffs from trophies to question US culture of competition and to attempt to satisfy her own insatiable need to “win.”
Cynthia Mason, from St Petersburg, FL. A mixed media artist. Mason is a proud mother to a 23-year-old daughter who is applying to Grad school for business. Her current goal is to purchase a piece of rural property.
Victoria Baena, from Cambridge, UK. A creative nonfiction writer and researcher, Baena has spent the past five years on a scavenger hunt, following the traces of an unknown writer and feminist: Amélie Bosquet.
Joseph Ovalle, from Maryville, IL. A mixed media artist, Ovalle is very interested in continuing his education daily. By learning new processes, ideas and trying to make friends wherever the world takes him.
Lynette Vialet, from Denver, CO. A nonfiction essayist. Travel and excitement, sifted through writing compels Vialet. Rafting in Chile, biking in Italy, hiking in the Himalayas are all fodder for her hybrid forms.
The Jentel Artist Residency Program accepts applications twice a year from visual artists in all media and writers in all genres for a three-week residency. A residency includes comfortable accommodation; common living, dining, and recreation areas; a private workspace, and a stipend to help defray expenses during the program.
